Virtualization
Traditionally most servers run at approximately 5-15% utilization on average. At the application design stage the infrastructure is designed to satisfy the peak which may only be a few minutes a day. Also, the designer tries to take into account future growth to avoid capacity issues and lengthy upgrades. This in combination means wasted investments and expensive projects.
Through virtualization solution, Logica makes computing resources and infrastructure management available to the customer as needed, and charges them for specific usage rather than a flat rate.
Supported by VMWare technology and fully redundant hardware, Logica solution provides self-provisioning, redundancy and the business continuity of the environment.
With a minimum downtime, it also provides the definition and the creation, of a set of machines that are defined as an application and, within minutes, creates a parallel environment containing that same application for debug/test without downtime, without changing machine names nor ip addresses, releasing the primary environment for continuing the work, and the secondary to debug an error or test a given functionality. All of this, through a simple Portal, available for authorized users.
Our policy is based on a hardware refresh every four years, as well as assuring that the Operative System is if possible, in the latest or latest-1 version, and always under support.
The virtual machines lifecycle management is made without any downtime and the infrastructure that delivers this service automatically collects performance and resource usage data, allowing the reporting of consumption of resources by image.
Backup/restore on demand and Automated Machine Provisioning can be done by users and Logica services include 24x7 monitoring, patch management and images conversion (V2V, V2P and P2V). Offline machines can be parked on user demand or automatically, if average memory and cpu consumptions measured in a certain amount of time are lower that a specific amounts.
Logica delivers a true on demand service with pricing based on service units of use or capacity on an hourly basis. The customer may scale up and down in capacity to meet business needs.
